The Galileo Institute was founded by Dr. Shiv S. Kumar in 2000 as an independent nonprofit
institution for scientific research and education. The
Institute's mission is to study the problems of the origin and evolution
of planets, stars, and galaxies in the universe by the scientific
method. The problem of the origin and evolution of life in the universe
is also studied at The Galileo Institute.
Dr. Kumar is President of The Galileo Institute. He is also an emeritus professor at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, Virginia. USA).
